Norfolk Cooperative Preschool is a parent cooperative preschool that has been serving the children in and around our community for over 30 years. NCP is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. Our teachers are First Aid and CPR certified, and constantly pursue higher education related to Early Childhood Education.

"Stay and Play" is available Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays.

ABOUT US

The Norfolk Cooperative Preschool is a parent cooperative preschool that has been serving children in our community for over 30 years. Our teachers have over 110 years (combined) teaching experience, and believe in our school and our curriculum, which is why they stay an average of 7 years!

ACCREDITATION

Norfolk Cooperative Preschool is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and is certified by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.

Our teachers are certified by the state of Massachusetts, and certified in First Aid & CPR. Teachers stay current on childhood research and issues through Early Education workshops and continued higher education throughout the year.

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT

As a parent cooperative preschool, we encourage parents to take an active role in their child's social and educational development. This time is very rewarding both for the child, and for the parents.

For your convenience, we offer two options for parents:

Participatory: This plan offers a lower tuition rate, and brings a parent into the classroom to assist on a monthly basis.

Non-participatory: This plan is offered at the full tuition rate, and does not require the parent to assist in the classroom.

OUR PROGRAM

We believe that children learn through play, so we offer a hands-on learning approach in a supportive atmosphere, where children learn to problem-solve, negotiate, make choices, and develop self-confidence in the following areas:

• Learning Centers: includes dramatic play, art, math, reading, science, writing, blocks, sensory exploration.
• Circle Time: includes stories, musical instruments, singing, dancing and art!
• Outdoor Play: Children play on our outdoor playground, sandbox, and go on nature walks with teachers. In inclement weather, our children enjoy our extensive indoor playroom.
• Field Trips & Enrichment: We take trips to the Fire Station, the farm, and the library. We also bring in educators from our community for music, dance, dental education, and fitness. Near the end of the school year, we offer those children who are moving on to Kindergarten a chance to ride the school bus from the preschool to the local Kindergarten, for an overview of school bus safety.
